Selling the family history

I have no idea why anyone would want to sell off their family history. And yet they do every day on shows like
Cash In The Attic,
Flog It and others.Paintings, antiques, war medals, china, jewellery are all shown to experts and put for auction.which l suppose when you need money for that winter break or gym membership it can make a certain kind of sense.
The problem l have with it is your selling off your family history.I guess my own family ties are so short l cannot understand someone would want to see their own.I happen to wish l had a painting from my family history or a war medal or two.
For some people though selling their stuff or great granny’s is to clear up space in a clutered home.Or it is not to their taste.ok l can get that too.
But what happens later when you have a pang of regret?I wish l never sold that teapot or l should have kept great uncle Stan’s war medal. To late you cannot go and track it down and ask for it back or hope to buy it back.It could be any where at that point and your out of luck.
I watch these shows out of guilty pleasure. It always amazes me how little or how much things sell for.I was shocked to see a Queen Victoria tin of chocolate go for over three hundred dollars. You could not eat the chocolate and even the biggest box at a fancy
store does not go for that much.
But l will admit when l go out and about to the yard sales every once in a while l am now on the look out for the one thing l could l sell off at a auction and make a good profit.
But then does’nt everyone want to do that now a days?
